Inspiration - FINALLY!

So tonight was one of the first days I am starting to feel normal, and I went to spin class to keep the good going. I'm not sure if it was the blood pumping through my veins, the sweat dripping all over, or the endorphins, but I dreamt up a new bag idea while pedaling along in class. I was zoning out, staring at my instructor's gym bag sitting on the ground, when I realized that it would be such a great idea to re-create the bag out of my recycled "fabric" (among other things!).

Then I got super excited because I figured out how to make it in my head. My grandmother used to always tell me about her mom who could see something in the window at a store and go home and make it. Her name was Anna, so once I finish this bag, it will become the Anna bag, in her honor.

Pictures to post soon!

New Year Blues

I cannot seem to get over this post-holiday, new year, winter blues funk...and it doesn't help that I have been down and out for the past 5 days with what I refuse to call the flu (but am pretty certain it was). My hands are craving knitting needles, my feet the sewing machine pedal. My body is wanting to be creative, and yet my brain is sooooo fuzzy.

To keep my spirits up, here is an image of the save the date magnets I made most recently...

Well Overdue Post

It's been almost a year and so much has happened! I had a little epiphany today about this little blog...along with posting pictures and tidbits, it will serve as a digital sketch/inspiration book to help keep me organized. Why should I be printing everything that inspires me in black and white (which I lose anyway) when I can have it at my fingertips anytime I need a little boost.

Fall is here

As I sit at my desk eating my apple I am shocked at how quickly the year is going by. I am super happy at how my felted slippers turned out (see below). They were relatively easy to make, and with the help of YouTube video, I taught myself the Magic Loop. I want to pick up cables next, and possibly take a class at Threefold Educational Center on dyeing yarn with plants. It might be nice having a person rather than a computer do the teaching!

In true "me" fashion, I am starting off the year by:
  1. procrastinating  AND
  2. writing a list (built from many lists on many little scraps of paper)
This list is a work in progress...

GOALS FOR 2009 (in no particular order):
  • Run a marathon (yikes! October 10th in Baltimore is creeping up!)
  • Be creative daily
  • Take advantage of my snazzy connections (wink! wink!) and travel lots
  • Visit friends in far off places (goes along with above)
  • Clean my childhood bedroom (perhaps the most daunting item on this list)
  • plan my escape
  • DOCUMENT EVERYTHING with photographs.
  • Organize all photographs from film days into albums and burn negatives onto cd's
  • Learn something new each week (new knit stitch, new recipe, new yarn shop, new running route, etc.)
  • Improve my dart game!
there you have it.

Moroccan Bag

Here is a bag I made in the fall, with some fabric I worked on designing.
